Can I add a recording database over USB? will be ok to review recorded video?

You can import/add the database as long as the drive is recognized by the operating system and is mounted (assigned drive letter on Windows for example). Importing the database is done via the Databases setup page using "Import" on the bottom. You can view the recorded videos from the USB external hard drive. Obviously and as you have already stated, not advised at all for using this to record, so make sure you don't configure the NVR to record to that database. After importing the database, if the cameras are no longer on the NVR (removed for example) you can still review footage by selecting Site -> Open Tab -> Databases and selecting the database on the left.
